Shasta County Unemployment Rate Remains At 5.9%

After a marked recovery from record joblessness during the pandemic, unemployment seems to be edging slightly upward again. Shasta County had a jobless rate of 5.9% in March, unchanged from February but above the 5.1% of last March. There was a year-over increase of 1,400 to the workforce, while there were job losses in the construction and financial sectors of 100 each. Tehama County had a 6.7% unemployment rate last month. It was 7.2% for Trinity County and 7.9% for Siskiyou County. The statewide rate was 4.8% and it was 3.6% nationally.
