Shasta County’s unemployment rate is hovering at just above the statewide rate after a spike in the early Spring. The county’s jobless rate was 5% last month, up from 4.9% in May and 4.4% in June of last year. Job declines have been seen in financial activities, private education and health services and government. 600 workers left the labor force between May and June. Tehama County had a 6.2% unemployment rate last month. It was 5.3% in Trinity County and 5.9% in Siskiyou County. The statewide jobless rate was 4.9% and it was 3.8% nationally.
