Sheriff Johnson Presents Plan For Staffing The Shasta County Jail To Supervisors

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors heard some creative solutions from Sheriff Michael Johnson Tuesday for possible staffing options for the jail. One floor has been closed for more than a year due to an inability to retain Correctional Deputies. The Sheriff would like to rotate officers from other law enforcement agencies into the jail for temporary shifts. Union cooperation would be essential. In terms of funding, the Sheriff is suggesting a tax sharing agreement with the cities.
