A camp that was attended by most Shasta County children for almost a half century is getting a big boost toward rebuilding. Whiskeytown Environmental School was badly damaged when the Carr Fire swept through Whiskeytown National Recreation area in 2018. Sierra Pacific Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sierra Pacific Industries, is donating $750,000 toward the rebuild and another $350,000 to the county schools office to help support the costs for student to attend. The donation will make a total of $2.28 Million raised so far of the estimated $4.5 Million to rebuild the student cabins. The total cost of the entire project could reach $15 Million.
