Siskiyou Deputies Arrest Man Who Reportedly Had Over 2 Pounds Of Fentanyl In Rental Car

A San Jose man has been arrested in Siskiyou County after a large quantity of a dangerous drug was allegedly found in the car he was driving. On Sunday, November 17th, a Siskiyou County Deputy pulled over a rental car for unspecified violations. The driver, 22-year-old Jose Cruz-Mijangos, told the deputy that he had rented the car in Los Angeles and was driving to Eugene to visit a friend. The deputy searched the car and apparently noticed an unusual bulge in a seat compartment. Inside he reported finding a brick of Fentanyl weighing 2.5 Pounds. DEA guidelines say that’s enough for 535,000 lethal doses of the drug. Cruz-Mijangos was booked into Siskiyou County Jail.
