A small airplane crashed before making it to Redding Regional Airport Saturday morning. At 9AM the pilot of a single engine plane reported having mechanical failure. He landed the plane in an open field south of Kent’s Meats off Airport Road. The 65-year-old Oregon man suffered minor injuries, and the aircraft appears to be destroyed. There were no passengers. The FAA is investigating.
