The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has apparently been given a warning on a couple of legal points from the State Attorney General’s Office. The advisories came in the form of a letter received on March 1st. It cites the resolution passed by the board in January stating that Concealed Carry Permit holders may carry guns on them into county buildings except for places specifically excluded by other laws. With the Primary Election about to occur, the AG’s Office wanted to reiterate that no guns are allowed within 100 feet of anyplace where ballots are being cast or counted. The letter also states in no uncertain terms that hand counting of votes is prohibited in any elections with more than 1,000 voters, despite recommendations to the contrary from the Citizens Elections Advisory Commission.
