State Grant Will Fund Efforts By RPD To Improve Traffic Safety

A grant of $410,000 has been awarded to Redding Police Department by the California Office of Traffic Safety. It’ll pay for DUI checkpoints, community presentations and enforcement of distracted driving, speeding, failure to yield, running stop signs and red lights and more. It’ll also pay for training officers in various procedures and for a dedicated DUI officer, in addition to a new DUI checkpoint trailer and 5 new LiDar devices to catch speeders.
