Storm Damage Reported Across The North State

Wet weather has been taking a toll around the North State. Tuesday morning a big rig on Highway 89 just south of Bartle jackknifed on the snowy roadway and slid sideways all the way across both lanes of the highway. On Highway 299 3 miles east of Buckhorn Summit a mudslide blocked the westbound lane until it was cleared by Caltrans. A long stretch of Highway 70 is closed again due top persistent mud and rock slides. In Lake Redding Park, a walking bridge over Dix Creek has collapsed. The city says it was already planning to rehabilitate that drainage in the Spring. Some low lying areas on Tehama County are inundated with nowhere for the water to drain, and in Glenn County dozens of road closures remain in effect due to flooding.
