Strong Winds Will Blow Shoe Fire Smoke Into The Valley

The smoky conditions in the Redding area are likely to get worse. Strong winds from the northwest on Thursday and the northeast on Friday will combine with dropping humidity levels to increase fire activity and blow the smoke from the Shoe Fire into the upper valley. Redding and surrounding areas will likely be socked in with smoke for several days. Air quality monitors have already shown unhealthy conditions throughout the area and some monitors have shown it to be hazardous. It’s especially bad in Palo Cedro, Bella Vista and the Intermountain communities. Everyone should limit outdoor activities.
