Supervisor Cyre Proposes Changing Shasta County’s Charter

A proposal by County Supervisor Kevin Crye to change Shasta County from a General Law County to a Charter County is focused on a single provision, and it’s one with which Crye may be intimately familiar. The charter would allow supervisors to appoint a replacement if a vacancy opens on the board. The decision to change the form of governance for the county would be on the March ballot. Of course, another item on the March ballot will ask District One voters if Kevin Crye should be recalled. If the Charter County decision is adopted, it would not go into effect until January of 2025.
