Supervisor Jones Accuses Registrar Of Lying To Board About Voting Machine Contract

Much bitterness was generated at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting by a discussion item concerning the contract for voting machines with Hart Interactive. The machines were acquired to satisfy a state requirement of at least one machine for each polling place. Patrick Jones is disturbed by the fact that the machines have the capability to count ballots electronically, and accused Registrar Cathy Darling-Allen of misleading the board on that matter, but it was all in the staff report for the April meeting when the contract was approved.
