District 3 Shasta County Supervisor Mary Rickert has taken a medical leave of absence from the duties and commitments surrounding her position on the board. The announcement was made by the Clerk of the Board at the start of Tuesday’s meeting. Rickert was not at Tuesday’s meeting and her name placard had been removed from the dais. She told A News Cafe that she’s trying to recover from a lower back injury and also has been dealing with a gravely ill family member. Rickert took a wide lead in a three way race for her seat in the primary. She did not take more than 50%, so in November she’ll face a runoff with Corkey Harmon. This is her third time running for the seat. In her re-election of 2020 she ran unopposed.
