Tuesday’s Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting will include the start of the annual budget hearings. That begins at 10AM and lasts for two hours, to be continued at Noon Wednesday and every day until it’s done. At Noon the board goes to closed session to discuss two lawsuits against the county, one by failed District 2 Supervisor Candidate Laura Hobbs and the other by former Shasta County Sheriff’s Captain Pat Kropholler.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting the Shasta County Board of Supervisors will discuss the hiring process for a new Clerk and Registrar of Voters. They’ll consider a screening process to select only the most qualified candidates to advance to the interview stage. That may involve establishing minimum criteria or setting up an ad hoc committee. Interviews will be done in open session and will include the same questions for every applicant. Those interviews are currently scheduled to begin on June 17th. Applications are being accepted until this Friday.
Shasta County Supervisors may adopt a resolution Tuesday by Mary Rickert to direct county counsel to hire an investigator to look into the alleged suppressing of a letter from the State Attorney General that cleared District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett of wrongdoing in the $50 Million PG&E Zogg Fire Settlement. The letter was received by Patrick Jones in January but he apparently only showed it to Kevin Crye and possibly CEO David Rickert. Crye continued to use the Zogg Fire Settlement as an issue in commercials fending off his recall attempt.
