On Tuesday the Shasta County Board of Supervisors approved a new set of rules for the Citizens Elections Advisory Commission, while the public is split on the validity of the commission. The panel will be restricted to 10 meetings during a statewide election year and four meetings in a non-election year. The panel has no authority and is currently suspended until a pending lawsuit against Registrar Tom Toller is concluded. Costs have already exceeded $140,000 but not a single one of the commission’s recommendations has been implemented because they’ve violated state law.
