Rancor and division persists in the Shasta County Board of Supervisors Chambers. The board was asked to approve a new member Tuesday for the Shasta County Citizens Elections Advisory Commission, Tim Garman nominated Benjamin Nowain, who made an impassioned plea for his appointment. Both Kevin Crye and Chris Kelstrom recused without stating a reason. Mary Rickert and Tim Garman voted yes but Patrick Jones said it was a “hard no”. That’s when the crowd became vocal and eventually was ordered to empty the chambers. Nowain’s wife Jenny sat on the floor until she was physically removed by deputies.
