Supervisors Host Public Safety Meeting On Thursday

A special meeting on justice and public safety was held by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors Thursday with a goal of forging a coordinated approach to public safety. Sheriff Michael Johnson said that for all the talk of the need for jail space, the reality is that the costs of a new jail have put that out of the question for the time being. He’s more hopeful for his proposed alternative custody campus. District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett said counties with similar populations have DA’s Offices with smaller caseloads and double the resources.
