Supervisors To Consider Approval Of $2 Million For Body Cameras For Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies

Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies will likely soon be wearing cameras. The Board of Supervisors will be asked on Thursday to approve a $2 Million expenditure for the cameras and the storage software for a five year period. Research by the Sheriff’s Office has shown that use of body worn cameras leads to a sharp reduction in lawsuits and complaints from the public. The board will also be asked to increase the Sheriff’s Office budget to allow for an additional Lieutenant and two more Community Service Officers.
