The location is a piece of City of Redding property off Eastside Road near Haven Humane Society. The agreement would have the county lease the property for 30 years at a cost of $500,000. Prior to discussion, the board was told that the City of Redding requested that the item be removed from the agenda. City officials believed the vote was premature because the land first needs to be declared as surplus. The board went ahead with the vote anyway, and it passed unanimously.
