Supervisors Vote To Send Two Letters In Hopes Of Improving Air Service At Redding Airport

Redding Regional Airport may be in worse shape than many people realize, but there may be hope. A runway rehabilitation project was called off due to a failure by the Federal Aviation Administration to secure promised funding. A separate issue is the decision by Avelo Airlines to end their flights between Redding and Burbank. On Tuesday the Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted to send two letters. One was to Avelo asking them to reconsider their exit and offering $100,000 to offset the costs of ground services. The other letter was to the City of Redding asking to form a joint powers authority.
