With a recent spike in deaths due to Fentanyl overdose, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday on whether to pay for some vending machines that dispense the life-saving drug Naloxone. $162,000 would be spent on six of the machines, which track inventory and control the amount issued to each person to prevent waste. Naloxone reverses the effects of a Fentanyl overdose and has already saved countless lives. Use of the machines has proven effective in other counties.
