Supervisors Will Discuss Hiring New County Health Officer In Closed Session

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors will try to fill some key leadership positions in county government during Tuesday’s meeting. Gretchen Stuhr is expected to be appointed the new County Counsel. Former Counsel Rubin Cruse announced his resignation in February, saying he intended to practice law in the private sector. Closed session negotiations are scheduled to possibly hire a new County Health Officer. The county has been without a Health Officer since May of last year when the board voted 3 to 2 to fire Doctor Karen Ramstrom without cause. The board will consider at least the fourth candidate in the last few months. There will also be closed session negotiations with the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the UPEC General Unit.
