Supervisors Will Discuss Sheriff’s Plan To Address Staff Issues At County Jail

An agenda item for Tuesday’s Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting will have Sheriff Michael Johnson discussing possible staffing options for the jail. One floor has been closed for more than a year due to an inability to retain correctional deputies. That’s resulted in a lack of accountability for suspects, who are frequently booked and then released on their own recognizance. Sheriff Johnson has posted on the county website the first in a series of videos to explain the issue to the public.
