The company provides healthcare to the Shasta County Jail, and 34 other California jails. The company has had over 1,000 lawsuits filed against it nationwide by prisoners and their families. In 2023 Wellpath paid $11 Million to the sister of a man who died in Shasta County Jail in 2018 after being arrested for Methamphetamine intoxication. Shasta County and Redding paid $1.65 Million in that case. The company filed for chapter 11 in November.
