Supes May Hire Yet Another County Counsel

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors may offer the County Counsel job to a Redding attorney at Tuesday’s meeting. Joseph Larmour works for a Redding firm that apparently specializes in divorce law and employment law. The search for a County Counsel has been quite a saga. The county has had 5 different County Counsels since March, when Rubin Cruse decided to go into private practice after he had held the position for 12 years. The job then went to Assistant Counsel James Ross, but he announced his resignation in July. He planned to stay until August but left early. His last day was marked with an odd farewell as his office was searched and deputies seized his laptop computer and cell phone. There’s been no explanation of that action. Since then 2 different interim counsels have been named prior to the announcement that Larmour may be offered the job.
