SWAT Team Called To End Standoff On Reservoir Lane Thursday Evening

A domestic violence suspect held Redding Police in a standoff for several hours Thursday night. Just after 6PM Redding Police responded to a home on Reservoir Lane between Hartnell and Cypress. They were met by a woman with significant injuries who said her boyfriend, 30-year-old Charles Sharit, had sprayed her with bear mace and then beat her with the bear mace can. Sharit is on Post Release Supervision and already had an unrelated warrant. Officers found that Sharit had barricaded himself inside the home. After several hours of attempting various methods to draw him out, the SWAT Team eventually forced their way in. Police say that after he was handcuffed, Sharit started kicking and fighting with officers. He was medically cleared and then booked into jail on multiple charges. He’s being held without bail. Reservoir Lane was closed throughout the incident.
