Bay Area law enforcement followed theft suspects all the way to Tehama County, where two high performance cars fled at high speed. On Thursday a little before Noon Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Investigators contacted the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office to ask that a traffic stop be attempted on two stolen vehicle, a green Jaguar SUV and a white Porsche. When a stop was attempted both cars sped away. Deputies chose to go after the Porsche, which hit high speeds on Interstate 5 and then into rural Western Corning. Deputies got support from ground and air CHP units and the Porsche pursuit ended on Gyle Road with the capture of 26-year-old Gilberto Ramirez Cruz and a 17-year-old girl. Investigators had learned of a house in Rancho Tehama connected to Cruz so they went there and found the Jaguar hidden behind the house. A search warrant was acquired and several stolen items were reportedly found in the house. Cruz was booked into jail on several warrants and the girl was booked into Juvenile Hall.
