A Redding man who was shot by police has been arraigned on felony charges. On Wednesday afternoon of last week two Redding Police Park Rangers had told two trespassers to leave undeveloped private property near the cross of Hartnell and East Cypress Avenues. 36-year-old Cody Levi Bailey reportedly verbally threatened the officers and threw a rock at them, which missed, then walked away eastbound along East Cypress with both officers following him on foot. They say he had a knife in his hand and when another officer confronted him near Lowden Lane Bailey reportedly refused to drop the knife and he was shot. No officers were injured. Bailey was released from the hospital on Tuesday and booked into jail. Wednesday he was in court to be arraigned on on charges including assault with a deadly weapon against an officer and exhibiting a deadly weapon against an officer. The judge decided that Bailey was likely enough to carry out his threats against police that he ordered him held without bail.
