Thousands Of Informational Bags Handed Out For Think Pink Day

Think Pink Day is Thursday. Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness is a concept that has swept the nation, and it was born right here in Redding 27 years ago. It’s now promoted from NASCAR to rodeo to Major League Baseball and the NFL. The push for awareness of early detection is largely credited for an astounding 98-percent survival rate when caught early, making it one of the most treatable forms of cancer. On Thursday, bags are being handed out containing educational information and souvenirs designed to spread the message of early detection through self examinations and mammograms. Some 40,000 of the bags will be handed out Thursday morning at Tri Counties Bank locations on South Street and Hilltop Drive. Don and Heather from our sister station K-Shasta are at the Downtown Redding location. Thursday evening an informational fair and celebration of life takes place from 5PM to 8PM at the Sundial Bridge, which will be bathed in pink. Many organizations will have booths with educational and fun activities.
