A train derailed in Dunsmuir Saturday night. Seven cars jumped the tracks but nothing spilled into the Sacramento River. The flatbed freight cars were all carrying lumber, and no hazardous materials were involved, according to Dunsmuir City Officials. The derailment occurred at the Simpson Avenue Rail Crossing in Shasta Retreat. Four of the rail cars were quickly uprighted and removed by Union Pacific, but the other three were more difficult and the last one will be removed Tuesday.
