Trial Set For Oak Run Man Shot By Deputies

Trial dates are set for an Oak Run man who has recovered from being shot by Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies. Detectives say that on July 5th, 34-year-old Christopher Maddox was driving towards Mineral School Road when he encountered a 51-year old man and a 46-year old woman who were taking out their trash. Maddox reportedly blocked their vehicle and threatened them with a rifle before they were able to drive away and call 911. Maddox continued toward his home and crashed on the side of the road, then confronted four other people including his mother, his great uncle, and his roommate’s girlfriend. He allegedly fired his rifle towards his roommate, who then fled. A CHP helicopter crew was able to see Maddox and it appeared he was holding the victims hostage. He refused to surrender and was shot by arriving deputies. Maddox was on probation at the time of the alleged crimes, and he’s being held without bail. He had a settlement conference last week but has not rescinded his not guilty plea. A jury trial is set for January 9th.
