Tribes and groups that pushed for the removal of dams on the Klamath River are monitoring the signs of improvements in the river, and they say things are looking good. The project to remove the four dams was recently completed after a long legal and political battle. A sonar station and video weirs are being used to count fish, and scientists and tribes are surveying spawning Salmon and egg nests. Chinook Salmon from the 2020 and 2021 brood years were raised by State Fish and Wildlife to reintroduce them to the new hatchery. The Karuk and Yurok Tribes are monitoring water quality.
