California water regulators are disputing a claim made by President Trump in a social media post. On Monday Trump wrote on his truth social platform “The United States Military just entered the great State of California and, under emergency powers, turned on the water flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The days of putting a fake environmental argument over the people are over. Enjoy the water, California.” The State Department of Water Resources then posted on X that the military did not enter California, adding that “The Federal Government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for three days.” There is no water conveyance into California from the Pacific Northwest or beyond. Trump’s comments were the latest in a series of attacks he’s lodged and actions he’s taken against the state’s water policy after Los Angeles-area wildfires broke out this month. He recently signed an executive order aimed at increasing water resources for Southern California. The State Water Department says water supplies in Southern California remain plentiful, and water supply had nothing to do with hydrants running out during massive fire suppression efforts.
