The Shelly Fire, which started July 3rd near Shelly Lake in the Marble Mountains of Siskiyou County, has now burned 15,317 acres with 6% containment. Six people have been injured. Evacuation orders and warnings are affecting thousands of people with more than 4,000 structures threatened. That fire is being fought by both Cal-Fire and the Forest Service, with more than 3,200 personnel on scene with 249 engines, 57 water tenders, 61 dozers and 17 helicopters.
The Paradise Fire started Monday off Ager Road west of Siskiyou County Airport. It’s burned 101 acres and is 75% contained.
The Bogus Fire near Little Bogus Creek in Northern Siskiyou County is now 100% contained after burning 411 acres.
The Dewey Fire 5 miles east of Siskiyou County Airport has burned 109 acres with 50% containment.
The Point Fire started Monday south of Lava Beds National Monument in Modoc County. It is about 300 acres with no containment, but forward progress has been stopped.
The Rim Fire started Saturday afternoon in Lassen County east of Little Valley. It’s remains at 1025 acres with 25% containment.
The Pickett Fire is off Pickett Peak Trail near Lower Mad River Road east of Ruth Lake in Trinity County. It’s burned 12 acres with no containment.
The Jolly Fire was stopped at less than an acre near Nut Tree Lane and Latona Road off Highway 273 in the Anderson area Monday. There may have been an arson arrest made in connection to that fire
Monday morning at around 10:30AM, crews quickly contained two fires at a quarter acre each on the north side of Dersch Road west of Deschutes. They were apparently caused by a vehicle dragging a chain.
