Two people suffered burns in a North Redding fire Friday afternoon. A little after 3 O’clock, Redding Fire was assisted by Cal-Fire as well as crews from Shasta Lake City and Mountain Gate as they responded to a black smoke column on Witch Way off Cascade Boulevard. Firefighters arrived to find a homeless camp ablaze with a fully engulfed motor home and pickup truck. Flames spread to vegetation, but held to less than a quarter acre. The cause was determined to be an illegal cooking fire. Two people were hospitalized with burns. Both had been warned last year about illegal fires and one had been arrested for an illegal camp fire.
