Two Women Suffer Minor Injuries In Crash On Highway 44

Traffic came to a standstill on Eastbound Highway 44 on the way out of Downtown Redding during rush hour Tuesday night, leading to a collision. 50-year-old Angelica Ortega was driving a Honda Accord when she came to a stop behind stalled traffic ahead of her a little east of Sundial Bridge Drive. 27-year-old Mayra Guamizo-Carlosa was behind her and was unable to stop in time as her Toyota Prius rammed the back of the Honda. Both women were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries, complaining of pain to their backs and necks.
