An arraignment was held Friday for Tyler McCain, accused of killing his wife, Nikki Saelee McCain. It’s the first time in Shasta County that murder charges have been filed without the discovery of a body. McCain entered not guilty pleas to all charges. The murder charge includes a special circumstance alleging that it was committed with the intent to prevent testimony. He also faces corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment, criminal threats, assault with great bodily injury, possession of a gun and ammo after a criminal protective order, forgery and a number of traffic violations. McCain did not waive time, so a long cause preliminary hearing is set for September 3rd. It’s expected to take 3 to 5 days. McCain is being held without bail. At least $30,000 is still available for tips leading to Nikki’s body.
