An accused killer has been transported back to Shasta County from Tuscon, Arizona to face charges in a murder and a rape from 40 years ago. Roger Neil Schmidt waived his right to an extradition hearing on Friday. In 1984 he was 23-years-old when he allegedly ambushed 18-year-old Terry Arndt, killing him, and raped an 18-year-old woman who was in Arndt’s car with him. The incident happened near Burney High School. Shasta County Sheriff’s Detectives used DNA to identify Schmidt.
