Update: Corning Police Arrest Man After Stabbing Early Saturday

Corning Police have captured their suspect in a stabbing that occurred early Saturday morning. A 22-year-old Corning man was stabbed 5 times, and police say the suspect also assaulted his own wife, who he had been ordered by the courts to stay away from. An arrest warrant was issued but the whereabouts of the suspect were unknown until Monday, when an off-duty Corning Police Officer spotted 24-year-old Juan Ramon Ramirez in Chico. The officer followed Ramirez back to Tehama County and notified on-duty officers, who did a felony stop at gunpoint just after Ramirez turned off of Highway 99 onto South Avenue. Ramirez surrendered without incident and was booked into jail on charges that include attempted murder.
