Two people killed as a result of a crash south of Redding early Thursday morning have been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office. At 1:30AM Thursday morning a 1998 Toyota Corolla was traveling at high speed northbound on Highway 273 when it left the roadway for unknown reasons at the Happy Valley Road intersection and collided with a metal streetlight pole. When emergency personnel arrived the car was smoking and on fire. There were three men in the car and none of them were wearing seatbelts. A passenger, 56-year-old Michael Allen Harvey of Redding, was declared dead at the scene. The driver, 36-year-old Stephen Jesse Arter, died after arriving at Mercy Hospital. The other passenger, 35-year-old Daniel Bishop, was hospitalized with a broken left leg.
