A Redding man who was stabbed to death a week ago has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 42-year-old Cy Jonathon Johnson. Last Tuesday evening Redding Police were called to Stability Solutions, a transitional living facility on Aruba Drive in North Redding. One of the residents, 26-year old Matthew Jacob Riddle, was identified as the suspect. He fled on foot but was intercepted by responding officers as he ran across Highway 299. Johnson, also a resident, was suffering from multiple stab wounds and died at Mercy Hospital. Police say Riddle and Johnson had been fighting after Riddle falsely accused Johnson of being a registered sex offender. After the fight, riddle allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife, found Johnson and stabbed him multiple times.
