Update: Coroner ID’s Washington Woman Killed In Crash On Highway 44

A woman who was killed in a crash in Eastern Shasta County a couple of weeks ago has been identified by the Coroners Office as 52-year-old Celeste Rochilli Torres of Wenatchee, Washington. On the afternoon of April 15th, the CHP says Torres was driving at high speeds westbound on Highway 44 east of the Highway 89 junction in a 1996 Ford Explorer when she lost control due to her speed, left the pavement and rolled over several times in a field. Torres was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. She was declared dead at the scene. Her small dog suffered fractures to both back legs. The CHP does not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The highway was closed for about two hours.
