Redding Fire Department has released details about a house fire that started in East Redding very early Monday morning. Engines were dispatched at 12:42AM to 3540 Ricardo Avenue. They found a car fully engulfed in fire in a carport, with powerlines on the ground. All five occupants of the home had already gotten out safely. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the main part of the house as Redding Electric Utility shut off the power. The outage affected around 1500 customers. Damage is estimated at $10,000 for the structure and another $5,000 for the car.
