A shooting victim in Red Bluff is now a suspect in a Gerber homicide. A half hour after Midnight Thursday night Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to a home on Ventura Avenue in Gerber. 3 men had arrived earlier in the evening to visit the homeowner. At around 12:15AM, one man shot another man for reasons that are undetermined. The homeowner struggled with the shooter to try and protect himself until another man fired multiple rounds, striking the homeowner in the leg. After a lengthy exchange of gunfire the two suspects fled, leaving behind their dead companion and the injured homeowner, who was hospitalized in stable condition at last word. A short time later Red Bluff Police responded to Main Street for a gunshot victim. They found 21-year-old Osbaldo Rodriguez suffering from several wounds, which he claimed had been inflicted at the River Park by a man he did not know. He was hospitalized. Detectives from the two agencies determined that Rodriguez was one of the shooters in Gerber. The other suspect is still at large.
