A serious error was made by county staff in a press release concerning several arrests made in Shingletown on Wednesday. Shasta County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force went to a home on Northwoods Way looking for 56-year-old Donald Ulysses Maxwell. He was wanted on a federal warrant for various drug-related charges, however he was not wanted for conspiracy to commit murder, as was previously stated by the Sheriff’s Office. Maxwell was taken into custody Wednesday without a struggle. Three other people at the home, Shawn Applehans, Natasha Poe-Carpenter and Miranda Garrett, also had outstanding felony warrants and were arrested. A search reportedly turned up Methamphetamine and 10 rifles with ammunition. The Sheriff’s Office says one of the guns was an illegal short-barreled rifle.
