The Shasta County Board of Supervisors spent an extended time considering an appointment to the Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control District Board. Richard Gallardo withdrew his application. The vote was 3 to 2 in favor of Ted Lidie, a firearms instructor and retired Army Sergeant Major. Lidie acknowledged he knew next to nothing about mosquito abatement, but he had the support of Board Chair Kevin Crye. The other applicant was Biologist Philip Cramer, who’s been on the board for 4 years.
