The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has delayed making a decision about what to do with the Old Courthouse buildings. Public Works presented three options to the board: $7 Million to demolish the buildings and make a parking lot, $17.5 Million to tear down the Annex and the Old Jail and refurbish the Courthouse, or $78 Million to repurpose all three buildings to lease the space. A significant amount of hazardous materials would have to be dealt with. The current running cost to maintain the empty buildings is around 15-to-20,000 Dollars a month. The board put it off until their March 18th meeting.
