The Shasta County Board of Supervisors Tuesday ratified Sheriff Michael Johnson’s declaration of a state of emergency made last week due to flood damage. Lieutenant Rob Sandbloom, who heads up operations at the Office of Emergency sServices, says the estimated damages are still very preliminary. It’s not possible to say yet what the monetary cost of the flooding will turn out to be, partly because much of the area around the Sacramento River is still underwater. Bureau of Reclamation releases from Keswick Dam peaked at 4AM Tuesday at more than 63,400 cubic feet per second.
