Update: Victims Of Fatal Crash In Corning Identified

The three people involved in a deadly crash in Corning over the weekend have been identified. At 21 minutes after Midnight Sunday morning a gold Toyota Avalon was traveling in the fast lane of Interstate 5 on the northbound side between Liberal Avenue and South Avenue when the driver made a sudden turning movement and lost control, according to the CHP. The car went across both lanes and left the pavement, went down an embankment and was stopped by a tree. The driver, 24-year-old Daniel Rodriguez-Romero of Gerber, and a passenger, 18-year-old Alexis Aguilar-Jacinto of Red Bluff, were both ejected. Rodriguez-Romero died along with a 13-year-old boy from Corning who had to be extricated from the car. Aguilar-Jacinto survived and was taken by helicopter to Enloe Hospital suffering major injuries. All three occupants had failed to fasten their seatbelts. Alcohol is suspected of being a factor in the crash. Anyone with information is urged to call the Red Bluff Area CHP Office at 530-737-6746.
