A woman who was found dead in a house fire last week in Anderson has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 73-year-old Cathy Marie Elliot. At 2:20AM last Thursday, Anderson Fire Department, along with Cal-Fire and Cottonwood Fire, were sent to a burning home on Pinewood Avenue at Loop Street. They arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the 1600 square foot house and fire visible to the rear. Crews made it into the front door but were slowed down by stacks of belongings. While searching the interior firefighters found Elliot deceased. The flames were knocked down in about 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Elliot’s family has been notified of her passing.
